It’s hard to believe it’s October already! You know how popular decorating for Halloween is (second only to Christmas), but before you carve jack-o-lanterns, decorate for fall. It will be easier and faster to transition to a spooky and scary look in time for trick-or-treaters.
I like a big, colorful wreath to dress up my front door. I started with a basic grapevine wreath I found at Goodwill ($2.99!).
Attach silk flowers one at a time. Think of the wreath as a big clock. I start between 7:00 and 8:00 and work up to 10:00 and down to 5:00. Use wire to hold each stem in place.
For balance, add a big bow at 1:00, casually weaving the ends in and around the wreath. Wire edged ribbon hold its shape best. For more texture I added a garland of metal stars I used for Christmas one year.
Voila! A festive fall wreath I can use every year. When I’m ready for Halloween decorating I could tuck in a ghost or witch or pumpkin. The hard work is already done.
I’ll have more Halloween decorating ideas and tips throughout October. Stay tuned.
