It’s been a cool, rainy spring, but planting season has begun. I love a flower garden; I just don’t have much of a green thumb. I can, however, get plants to grow in pots and love to welcome guests with lots of flowers at my back door. This year, instead of the traditional clay pots or glazed pottery I decided to try something different.
Copper molds were popular kitchen decor in the 70s and 80s. Today, I repurposed one into a garden planter. It cost only 49₵ at Goodwill.
Or for a more contemporary look, try a glass shade from a hanging light fixture.
Good drainage is the key to successfully growing plants in pots. Be sure to add stones at the bottom.
I have a little cactus that needed replanting. It fits perfectly in a ladle! I can hang it outside away from the wind during the summer and bring it in when the weather gets cold. Too cute.
Potted plants dry out quickly, so be sure to water them every day.
What other gadgets or tools could you plant flowers in? Send me your ideas and photos.

The cactus in the ladle is very cool! And succulents are the only plants I don’t kill. I want to try this in my kitchen; thanks!
