There are some old European Christmas traditions where the tree is hung upside down from the ceiling. I guess the kids and the critters can’t get at it when it’s out of reach. It never occurred to me to try it until I ran out of room for another tree! I wanted one in the kitchen, but didn’t want to give up any counter space, so hanging it was the ideal solution.
I attached it with wire to a screw in the ceiling. Then tucked the light cord around the window casing. Lucky for me, I have an outlet next to the window.
I’ve decorated an upside down tree for several years and have never had one crash down. The secret is make sure it is really secured around the screw and to use only light weight ornaments.
For balance (you know me, always thinking good design!), I hung a garland over the second window and decorated it with more ornaments.
