We celebrated my mother-in-law’s birthday Saturday. It was a chili tasting and hat party. Chili (not my favorite), but everyone else loves it and it made the event easier for me since they each brought food. We wore hats just to make the day more fun!
Sunday was our wedding anniversary (34 years!). It was the first day in months that we didn’t have to go anywhere. Tom and I were both thrilled to stay home. It was a great day. I was able to catch up on some long neglected projects, watch the entire Packer game and enjoy a delicious dinner made by Tom.
One of the neglected chores was organizing my dish closet. Yes, it is a closet. I get asked all the time where I store my dinnerware. I own lots of dishes, glassware and serving pieces. I can’t resist a bargain. (Wait until you see the newest set I found for Thanksgiving dinner). So I have several cupboards all over my house for dishes!
It looked like this last week…
…and Sunday, it looked like this!
I rearranged a couple other cupboards and ended up with more space in this big one. Room for more!
To avoid breakage and scratches, I layer a coffee filter between each plate and bowl. I’ve tried napkins and paper towels, even tissue paper, but nothing works better than filters. They’re round, reusable and incredibly cheap.
Be sure to stock up on filters before you serve your next holiday or birthday party dinner.
