I like to welcome guests with a Halloween display on my steps. I prefer friendly decorations, but go all out in the scary department if that’s how you entertain.
Jack-O-Lanterns with candles are the perfect decoration for Halloween night. As you know, once you carve them, they start to spoil. To make them last all month long, decorate your pumpkins without carving and use them indoors and out.
Choose pumpkins and gourds in a variety of sizes and shapes. Look for ones with the stems intact. Wash off dirt and dry thoroughly.
I decided to drip paint down the sides for a spooky haunted house look. Use a small paint brush to fill in around the stem.
Let the paint run down the sides. Start with a little, you can always add more.
Or if you’re feeling really creative, “throw” paint. If you’re working inside, set the pumpkin in a box to protect the table from splatters.
Arrange on your porch steps with gourds, leaves and candles. (Never leave candles unattended!) No one else on the block will have pumpkins dripping with goo!
