Everyone is Irish on St. Patty’s Day, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited to shamrocks and green beer. I love to shake things up especially at the dinner table. This year, I’m doing St. Patrick’s Day with an Asian Twist. (Sounds like a great name for a cocktail!)
I’m keeping it simple by using only two colors, white and lime green and building layers. Think of your table as a theater. You are entertaining after all.
Backdrop: Basic white table cloth
Center Stage: Rustic lime green wood place mat
Act 1: Octagonal white dinner plate
Act 2: Matching green soup bowl
Effects: Napkins tied in a knot
Props: Chop sticks
Who says you can’t eat corned beef and potatoes with chop sticks? I tied the white napkin into a soft knot and inserted a pair of sticks.
More Props: Place cards
I love clever ways to seat people at the table. I found a box of price cards at antique mall. They were so charming, I couldn’t resist. Each guest gets assigned a price. I’ll let them argue over their assessed value.
Fill Light: Candles
Finish the table setting with matching green candles. Glass marble used to fill vases look a little like clovers. All you need is just a hint of Ireland.
