The best part of redecorating a room from scratch is the unlimited possibilities. When you aren’t obligated to use a particular color or piece of furniture, you can do anything. Of course, it can also be a daunting task if you don’t know how to begin.
Starting with paint is an option if you need to match existing furniture or draperies. Otherwise, it’s best to start with fabric. It’s so much easier to match paint to fabric than fabric to paint.
I started looking for fabrics in teal or aqua tones. I pulled together a collection of prints and textures from small scale to oversize and traditional to contemporary to trendy. The common denominator is various shades of teal with brown and a bit of copper.
I found the small horizontal strie first. I love the color and sheen and since it’s semi-sheer, it and will make beautiful draperies.
The large scale damask is bold enough for an inspiration board on the wall.
This random embroidered design will look great on a little chair I found.
Next step, choosing paint.
