It has been a very long, frigid, snowy winter. I’m tired of hibernating, so I’m planning a Think Spring dinner party for Saturday night. I invited 4 couples, 3 are friends and spouses my husband and I have know since high school and the fourth joined our circle of friends a few years ago.
Anyone who knows me knows I really don’t like to cook, but I love to entertain and set the table. I own an entire closet full of dishes—dinner ware and serving pieces, napkins and table cloths and glasses in every shape and size.
For this party, I’m breaking out the white dinner plates with a black filigree border (only 99 cents each at Goodwill), square black chargers and salad plates. I’m serving squash soup (see color theme below) in the little bowls I found at Ikea last year (black and white polka dots—love the dots!).
For the big slash of color, I bought an orange table runner and orange dish towels yesterday. I’m going to cut the towels in half, hem the raw edges and voila! I have two napkins for the price of one! Tulips are in season, so I’m hoping for an assortment of orange, red and hot pink.
I will post photos next week. I feel the snow melting already!
